mark152 > bradfromusa Wow. After all this endless scrolling, your story gave pause to read and consider. I’m also new to trying this internet bit as I’ve always been a bit suspicious of it and didn’t feel like I really needed to go this route, but times change and I’ve been frustrated at finding anyone with means to travel in style at any time. I got out of the [----] bomb in time and retired a few years after sorting out my grandparents (who raised me and in hindsight, a rather privileged way). I’m American, but have lived in Cape Town for10 years; left the U.S. in the ’90 for executive career in Europe, Asia and Australia. I guess I’ve gone a bit native and while I still like visiting the U.S., I find the culture increasingly disturbing. Still, other than managing my finances, Cape Town is beautiful, but a bit slow, broke, confining and insular - hence even though I’ve visited most places of (my) interest over the years, I’m still spontaneous and would like to travel from time to time at the drop of a hat - or forward plan up to 12 months. I love history, global politics, economics, cultures and having fun doing it all. Travelling with someone is almost the ultimate challenge in getting along and much need to click to make achieve a happy ending. I’m not looking for more than a fun friendship (famous last words!)and someone with the means to travel in, well, comfort. I treasure loyalty and integrity above all else & find humor in most situations except in airports and dealing with the French, uhg. I can talk to just about any subject and enjoy taking both positions on an issue. I’m more type A than type B, but I like to think that I’m easy to deal with adversity when it comes along - and it does - the alternative to solving whatever it is, on the other hand, unthinkable.... I love to entertain and on occasion take a walk on the wild side. I don’t have the whole photo thing sorted out yet, but hope to get that squared away this week as I don’t think doing this will be off putting in any way so who cares?
Maybe you put this up long ago and this may be a day late and dollar short, but who knows?
