Traveling to NZ in 2026

Possible stopover for 7 days on the east coast of Australia to check it out before heading it home. Hoping to meet some nice folks to show me around. Other destinations I would like to visit someday, would be taking a road trip up the west coast of the US, through CA, OR, WA, maybe take the car ferry from Vancouver BC to Alaska.
